SELECT COMMITTEE ON MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS TO RELEASE FINAL REPORT

TORONTO, August 24, 2010 – The Select Committee on Mental Health and Addictions of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario will release its final report entitled “Navigating the Journey to Wellness: The Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Ontarians”. The report will be released on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

A press conference will be held in the Media Studio of the Main Legislative Building at Queen’s Park on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Members of the Select Committee will be available to answer questions regarding the report and the Committee’s work.

The members of the Committee are: Kevin Flynn, Chair (LIB), Christine Elliott, Vice-Chair (PC), Bas Balkissoon (LIB), France Gélinas (NDP), Helena Jaczek (LIB), Sylvia Jones (PC), Jeff Leal (LIB), Liz Sandals (LIB), and Maria Van Bommel (LIB).

Also in attendance will be Catherine Pringle, Elizabeth Manley and possibly George Chuvalo.

The Select Committee, an all-party committee, was struck on February 24, 2009 with a mandate to consider and report its observations and recommendations with respect to a comprehensive Ontario mental health and addictions strategy.

Copies of the report will be available at the press conference and an electronic copy will be posted on the web site of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario at www.ontla.on.ca at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

DIFFUSION DU RAPPORT FINAL DU COMITÉ SPÉCIAL DE LA SANTÉ MENTALE ET DES DÉPENDANCES

TORONTO, le 24 août 2010 – Le Comité spécial de la santé mentale et des dépendances de l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario diffusera le jeudi 26 août 2010 son rapport final intitulé : « Sur le chemin du mieux-être : Le plan d’action compréhensif sur la santé mentale et les dépendances à l’intention des Ontariens et Ontariennes ».

Une conférence de presse aura lieu à la Salle des médias de l’édifice de l’Assemblée législative à Queen’s Park le jeudi 26 août 2010 à 10 h. Les membres du Comité spécial répondront aux questions concernant le rapport et les travaux du Comité. 

Les membres du Comité sont Kevin Flynn, président (Parti libéral), Christine Elliott, vice­présidente (Parti progressiste­conservateur), Bas Balkissoon (Parti libéral), France Gélinas (Nouveau Parti démocratique) Helena Jaczek (Parti libéral), Sylvia Jones (Parti progressiste­conservateur), Jeff Leal (Parti libéral), Liz Sandals (Parti libéral) et Maria Van Bommel (Parti libéral).

Mesdames Catherine Pringle et Elizabeth Manley ainsi que peut-être monsieur George Chuvalo seront également présents.

Le Comité spécial multipartite, mis sur pied le 24 février 2009, avait pour mandat de réfléchir à une stratégie provinciale exhaustive sur la santé mentale et la lutte contre les dépendances et de rendre compte de ses observations et recommandations.

On pourra se procurer des exemplaires du rapport dans la Salle des médias; une copie électronique du rapport sera également affichée sur le site Web de l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario, à l’adresse www.ontla.on.ca, à compter de 10 h le jeudi 26 août 2010.
