  • OASW Survey on Mental Health: The OASW Mental Health Advisory Task Group has developed a survey to examine the role of social workers in the mental health sector. Information from this survey will assist OASW in identifying, prioritizing and responding to mental health issues relevant to the practice and training of social workers. If you have a degree in social work, please complete the survey (takes approximately 15-20 minutes). Please forward the survey link to other social workers in the mental health sector. Survey participants are eligible to enter a prize draw. OASW is hoping to maximize responses from both members and non-members.
  • Will your candidate for federal election support initiatives to improve the well-being and quality of life for persons with mental illnesses?
    All candidates should be concerned about mental illness which is the leading cause of disability in our country. Find out from the candidates running for election where their party stands on key issues affecting persons with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression, including timely access to new and innovative medications.

    1. Establishing the National Mental Commission in Canada approved by the federal government in December 2005.

  • The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology has the honour to release its 4th interim report for its study on Mental Health, Mental Illness and Addiction. The Report is entitled: "A Proposal to Establish A Canadian Mental Health Commission" and is available on the Committee's website at the following link: www.senate-senat.ca/SOCIAL.asp
