The Federation Addiction Strategy Map

Map consists of four components:

1) Structure

2) Process

3) Outputs

4) Outcomes

 

  1. Structure - underpinnings of the addiction system

· Further develop and increase equitable resources and capacity

· Ensure evidence informed practices are developed, implemented and maintained across the province

· Increase availability and retention of the qualified human resources

 

Process - Steps taken in caring for client/patient

· Increase productive use and appropriate use and allocation of resources across system

· Improve client focus of addiction services

· Improve access to appropriate addiction treatment

· Ensure the continuum of interventions includes prevention, health promotion, early intervention, harm reduction and treatment services

· Increase linkages, transition and integration within addiction services

· Improve linkages and transitions between addiction, mental health, health, education, social and justice systems

  1. Outputs – Near Term Outcomes (effects produced through process activities)

· Improve healthy behaviours, health promotion and disease prevention

· Reducing risk through influencing the broader determinants of health

 

  1. Outcomes – Long Term Outcomes (effect Health Status of Population)

· Improve health outcomes at the individuals and population level

· Ensure quality assurance within the addiction system

· Increase sustainability and equity of the addiction and health systems
